Happy birthday to me! I just picked up a new toy today. I’ve been wanting to get a digital SLR for quite some time now, and I had a chance to play with one earlier this month when my mother got one as a birthday gift (hi Mom!).
So, after a lot of research, I decided on the Nikon D60 which came with an AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm VR lens. I also got the AF-S NIKKOR 70-300mm VR lens just for kicks.
I’ve been playing with it all afternoon, and it’s a pretty nice camera. I had actually wanted to get the D80, but that was another 300 bones that I wasn’t willing to spend considering I’m at the beginner end of things.
Now I just need a flash (probably an SB-600 Speedlight) and a couple of filters and I’m all set.

I’ve always had a thing for audiobooks. I love to read, but sometimes it’s great to just listen to a story, especially if the reader has a talent for really drawing you in.
I spend about an hour in my car each day commuting to work, and since my CBC reception isn’t that great, I’ve been listening to audiobooks on my trips back and forth to work. I’ve been getting my audiobooks from audible.com. It’s a fabulous resource for this type of media. I pay $15/month and I get a credit for one audiobook. After that I get a discount on any other purchases I make.
I love this service so much, I just had to share it you. The only problem is that sometimes it’s hard to make a decision about which book to buy, so I decided to add a page to this site outlining the books I’ve bought.
