A funny thing about native Frederictonians is that unless they live within 5 minutes of work, they’re too far away. This is kind of opposite the Saint John mentality, where people usually tend to want to live away from the bustle of the city’s cores (Uptown, and the East Side).
To many Saint Johners, it’s desirable to live 15 or 20 minutes from these areas in places such as Quispamsis, Rothesay, or even Hampton. In fact, even living inside city limits in places like Millidgeville, or the West Side will work.
When I started telling people in Fredericton that we bought a house 20 minutes away from Down Town, in a community called Upper Kingsclear, the most common response was “Why did you even move up from Saint John if you’re going to be way out there?”
Well, I was on my deck the other day when the sun was setting over Kelly Creek, and this is one big reason to live “way out here”. Check out these images:

Erin and I are now the proud parents of Calista Ruby Craig. Cali was born just before 10 this morning after 2 hours of labour. She’s 5 lbs 10 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. She’s absolutely beautiful!

Looks like we’re going to have an addition to our family a little earlier than we expected. Erin was due on September 19th, but the doctor decided that she should hurry the process along a little bit. She’s going to induce Erin on Sunday afternoon, and we expect to be proud parents by Monday.
Originally, we didn’t want to know the sex of the baby. Erin wanted the surprise, but the nurse slipped up the other day, and we’re pretty sure we know now, although Erin still wants to keep it a secret.
In any case, we’re pretty happy. I’ll post pictures when I can.

I’m finally done dealing with cancer for a little while. I had a bone scan and a CT scan this week, and the results show that the chemo is doing its job. The spots that I still have are just about gone, and I’ll find out about those in a couple of months.
But…the chemotherapy caused a blood clot in my lung, and now I have to take a blood thinner by injection every day for the next 6 months. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. And this drug is extremely expensive. A month’s supply is costing me $250 even after my drug plan. Gotta love money hungry drug companies.
And to top it off, I have a compression fracture in my lower back that caused me so much pain a couple of weeks ago, I ended up in the emergency room barely able to breath. I have no idea how that happened, but luckily that pain only lasted a few hours.
I wonder if I there’s a warranty on body parts.
